Information

Captain Blood is a unique, classic computer game that was released way back in 1988. The original version was for the Atari ST computer, but the game's success led to it being converted to every popular format that was around at the time. Basically, it is a kind of space adventure/strategy game, where you go around talking to aliens, doing deals, killing people and trading information. It's very cool.

The game was created by two members of a programming team called Exxos (later to become Cryo, creators of Dune, Megarace, Lost Eden, etc). These legendary individuals were Philippe Ulrich and Didier Bouchon.

Captain Blood won awards, got rave reviews and sold a lot of copies. More importantly, though, it achieved cult status, and remains deeply engraved in the minds of many fans, to this day. Oh yeah, and it also managed to confuse and bewilder a large percentage of those who played it.

Ten years on, and there is still nothing like this bizarre tale of biomechanical space madness. Even the two sequels that have been released cannot scale the heights of Captain Blood's grand vision.

This small site on the internet is here as a reminder of what is, in my opinion, one of the greatest games ever made. The PC version can be downloaded from here, together with the full manual. There are also French, Spanish and German language patches available for download.

My eternal thanks goes out to all the people who have helped me with Blood-related stuff since I started this site in 1997 (a lot of people!). Extra-special thanks to Jim Leonard (Trixter) who has done more things for me than I can count, and who is now hosting this site on www.oldskool.org!

Bookmark this site, because sometime in the future, it will be changing, as I hope to create the ultimate Captain Blood resource centre, with more information that you could possibly need (well, that's the plan, anyway!). If you want to know anything, send me anything (magazine reviews would be good), or just talk, then please don't hesitate to e-mail me.
